I purchased a NH 1720 last year and so far been really happy with it.I opted for the 20 series for a couple of reasons. The first is that the specs. on the 1720 like the previous post are in my opinion better, it seems the boomer platform remains the same and more hp is added by uping the engine revs.
The second reason is the boomer has far too many plastic parts on it.Plastic
pieces usually have to be replaced rather than repaired.

I have to agree with Don as far as moving large amounts of snow (wet or dry)a snow blower is superior to a blade.I did my 500ft drive for 10 years with an AG<br>tractor and blade/loader combo.It took along time and every 3rd or 4th time <br>I would have to push the banks back with the loader, a 6 ft bucket over 500ft<br>takes awhile.Last year I bought a NH 1720 4x4, with loader and a 5ft rear blower<br>I can say it takes about two thirds the time to clean the snow away and i don't<br>have to deal with the banks.<br>In the summer months I mow my front yard 6 acres with a 72' befco finishing mower .The 1720 (with R4s) does a fine job. In IMHO the 20 series compact is more real tractor for the money than the boomer.Take the time and check out the 20 series New Holland compacts. <br><br><br>

Just buy the rear turfs and keep the R4's. It may be more expensive if you have second thoughts a year from now and want to go bak to R4's. You should have no trouble selling a set of tires at a later date. Just my 2 cents!

I recently did the 50 Hr service on my NH 1720.My unit is still within the warranty period . To insure I don't jepordize the warranty by using inferior<br>or unsuitable products I chose the recomended New Holland manufactured oils and filters. The extra I may or may not have spent is insignificate to the time worring about band names of oil and filters. I would rather spend my time using the tractor.<br>

I wish to buy a flail mower in the not to distant future and have a few questions before I lay out some cash.<br>I already have a 6' Luck Now rotary cutter (brush hog) mounted on my NH 3930, however it seems a little slow and most of the time cumbersome around the house, drive shed and various out buildings.Im cutting mostly <br>hay field type material with a couple of berry canes mixed in on the field<br>edges.<br>I want to mount a flail mower on primarily my NH 1720 (23.5 PTO hp) and occasionaly on the NH 3930 (45 PTO hp).<br>The New Holland sales flyer recomends a 71

NH1720 . Would this be pushing the compact tractor to the limit?
I have no expierence with flail mowers so I don't know how much hp they gobble up.
I would also like to know if a flail mower would be faster in comparison to the
rotary as far as time wise (7.5 acres)?.

I have read all the posts on this topic and noticed nobody has mentioned<br>dynomite.I realize you need a large acerage, expert application , and understanding neighbours, however it may be the fastest and most fun method<br>of stump removal.<br>My second method would probably be going to a rental yard and acquiring a good<br>size bulldozer and doing the work myself,if you can handle a compact loader tractor you can operate a dozer.Why take a chance with your pride and joy compact when it was not designed for this kind of work.It takes one slip up<br>to cause hours of repaires, which translates to big dollers.

I really don't know what a 1920 sells for new in the states , but if this is the purchase of your life time I would break the bank and go new.Its hard to say<br>what life the 1920 had unless you can contact the previous owner.See my post on<br>1720 Price loader backhoe,it may or may not help.

About this time last year my brother and I got out of a full time beef operation<br>and cashed in.We traded our modern haying equipment in for a pair of NH 1720<br>compacts 4x4s,with 7308 loaders,remote rear valves,block heater,loaded over size<br>Ag tires and rear lamp for $21500.00 Cdn.each. <br>We had an active farm for about 10 years, as well as full time jobs off the<br>farm. So our time was well accounted for.<br>I have followed this web site for some time now and placed a comment or two.I seem to notice a real trend towards the boomer series.Is this because the 20<br>series is not available south of the border?(please fill me in).<br>We looked at the boomers and could not bring ourselves to the idea of trading <br>good quality (and recent) New Holland cutting ,round-square bailers and rake<br>for a plastic boomer.<br>Im not picking on the boomer ,just the plastic.
